More About Bruno ... Did you know?

Bruno Mars holds the record of being the youngest Elvis Presley impersonator!

Young Bruno Mars impersonating Elvis Presley!

 Awww!

"You were actually the youngest Elvis impersonator?", Bruno was asked during an interview.

"The ill-est I like to call it. ...",  Bruno replied;  "Straight up, four years old in an Elvis suit, straight up!",  he said laughing.

"Look at him now ... ", chimed in his best friend, Phil Lawrence, "now he's sayin' 'made it!' ... No more rhinestones! We good!".

In this clip (below, at the bottom of post) you can actually see "little Elvis" at the age of four sitting with his dad (Peter Hernandez) during an interview with Jonathan Ross.  When Jonathan asked, "Can you tell me ... how long you've been performing as Elvis?", 4 year old Bruno answered, "Since when I was two.".

Two years old?!  Good grief!!

"What do you like about Elvis?" Jonathan had further queried, to which the "Baby" Bruno had promptly replied, curling his lip like Elvis would do, "I like his singing and his dance and his lip!"

In an Interview with Piers Morgan a now fully grown (and, of course, Fully Famous!) Bruno recalled a time when, as a child, he wasn't able to perform ...

"I remember one night I had a hundred and some odd fever, I was about 5 years old ... and my Mother wouldn't let me perform and I was bawling all night! ... I had to call in sick that night and I didn't get to put my jump suit on!"

Bruno Mars' interview with Piers Morgan.

In that same Interview, Bruno continued on to disclose just how much he had enjoyed performing as Elvis, sharing, " ... We had this show six nights a week at the Sharaton Waikiki so, it was me going to school, and then at night I'd turn into Batman!"

<Batman voice> "I'm Elvis" ... get it?
instead of "I'm Bat ... " oh never mind!

In 2012 Bruno was, once again, interviewed by Jonathan Ross. During the Interview, Bruno revealed how it all had started.

"My father had a group called 'The Love Notes'," he explained, "it was like a 1950's rock & roll show.  And my Uncle would do the Elvis impersonation in the show, which was my favorite part when I was a kid.  So, every night I'd be front row and I'd be begging my dad 'bring me up on stage!'; and, finally, one night he brought me up! ... And here I am!"

Missy Eliot tweeted this picture of Bruno and her "@ the studio!"  ... #whaaaaaat?!!

Bruno Mars and Missy Elliott

Missy also sent the following pic and caption, via Instagram...

(Does this mean a soon-to-be-enjoyed Bruno Mars/ Missy Eliot Collaboration?  'Cause I gotta say, that would be pretty funking cool!!)

Within the Post's Caption, Missy said that Bruno played her some " ... songs 4 his album ... " and that they were "#INCREDIBLE!"

… "Shawty, what?!"

Oh, c'mon now, Bruno!  First your Dad (Peter Hernandez) and now Missy Eliot??  Just WHEN do we, your loyal - and only slightly obsessed - Fans, get to hear your new songs as well, hmmm?!!

We're dying' here!

Nah!  Just kidding! … We're totally cool waiting.

(Nothing but patience here. Yep, yep, yep …)

But, uh, just casually wondering, it IS still coming out in September or October, right?

(Bruno??)

There is an Alternate Official Video for "The Lazy Song" that stars, none other, than Leonard Nimoy!

Yes, you read that correctly, Leonard (funking!) Nimoy!!

This Video is brilliant and sooo very funny!  … It's almost better than the original!  ... < thinking about the 'original' that
does have Bruno dancing through it >

Bruno Mars' "The Lazy Song" official music video.

 ... Well, almost!

This Hooligan/Trekkie-dream-come-true rendition of this Video showcases Nimoy all the way through to the end, although Bruno and Phil did manage to make one small appearance!  They ( Bruno and Phil) can be spotted pushing a shopping cart out of the store just before Leonard goes in!

The tiger painting behind Leonard in the last scene of the video ...

... is the same painting that's behind Bruno ( and the rest of the Smeezingtons ) in a live chat that he did in "the studio in California" (2012).

 ... Coincidence? ... I think not!

In closing, let me say, this video is perfectly hilarious from beginning to end; and, if you haven't seen it yet, you should totally check it out, below!

Uptown Funk Wins Award For Best Collaboration At iHeartRadio Music Awards!

The 2016 iHeartRadio Music Awards

On April 3rd, 2016, The 3rd iHeartRadio Music Awards took place at the Forum in Inglewood, California.

The Event was hosted by Jason Derulo.

Taylor Swift and The Weeknd tied for the most Nominations of the night with Seven.

Taylor, of course, took home the most awards with Four.

And this is all very interesting (and all!) but, the most interesting and coolest part of the night (well, to me anyway!) was that in the category for Best Collaboration, "Uptown Funk" - Mark Ronson, featuring Bruno Mars WON!!

Whoo, yeah!  Now that's what I'm talkin' about!

The song was also Nominated for Song of the Year, but, lost to Adele's "Hello" ...
What the funk! C'mon, people!  I like Adele as much as the next person but, "Hello" is (in my opinion) certainly not her best song; and, furthermore, "Uptown Funk" totally kicks it's a$$!  … But, hey! Maybe that's just me.

After the event, Bruno Mars tweeted, "I love you @IHeartRadio! I love you hooligans! I love you Sriracha. I love you @LeoDICaprio. Thinking of u @holyfield ... "

Bruno Mars' Highly Anticipated 3rd Album!

On January, 2015, while on the Ellen show, Bruno announced that he would be disappearing for a while.

Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson on Ellen

He said, "I wanna start my third record ... I think I'm ready to go back in."

"How long?", Ellen asked,  "Like a year, two years?"

"Until it's done", answered Bruno. " 'Uptown Funk' is doing what it's doing and it's [his 3rd album] got to be just as good if not better, right?

Bruno Mars' interview on Ellen

Naturally, following this announcement, I was completely bummed about Bruno's 'disappearing';  but also, super (freaking!) exited about his third album!

In any case, there was nothing to be done at that point, except to wait (Weeell ... "wait" and listen to "Uptown Funk" over and over! Seriously, I can not get enough of that song!) ... Annnnd wait and wait! ... More waiting (and checking around every other day) ... MORE waiting … "Is it here yet?"?!!

Weeks had turned to Months, and all without so much as one peep about his promised third album, when, FINALLY, in August 2015, Bruno took to twitter and sent out the simple message
"writing."
<Shrieking with joy!!>

(Okay, okay, so certainly less than I was hoping for; but hey!  I'll take it!!)

Then, some more dreary, Bruno-less Months passed (4 plus to be exact) with even the New Year coming and going without a word concerning his new album; and, right around the time when we, the Fans, had started to wonder "Bruno! Dude! What about your third album?" (And it's not that we're being impatient, am I right? ... We just can't wait  to hear more of your music, Bruno! … Nope!  Not being impatient at all …), Bruno tweeted on Jan.10th, 2016,  "I'm on a mission. I'm Obsessed to make an album I'm genuinely proud of. Stick with me hooligans. I'll get there. Love Brunz"(https://mobile.twitter.com/BrunoMars?max_id=697515182134693887)

(Awww!! So sweet … and now we were feeling genuinely guilty for being SO impatient! )

Well, we knew it all along, Bruno! ... Right, guys?

In an article from Billboard back in February, Bruno's Engineer, Charles Moniz, was quoted as saying, "I think we've [sic] very close, ... it's going to be the next movement of Bruno".(http://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/pop/6875184/bruno-mars-grammys-uptown-funk-super-bowl-third-studio-album-unorthodox-jukebox)

(<Ahhhhh!>  So excited!!)

In that same article, it was revealed that Mark Ronson had stopped by the studio (#whaaat!), but there has been no confirmation (of which, I am aware) that Mark will be on Bruno's third album.

In an article by musictimes.comBruno's Dad, Peter Hernandez, was quoted as saying, "It [Bruno's third album] was due in March, but by doing the Super Bowl, it threw him back several months, ... Bruno has seven great new songs - I've heard 'em - but the album should now be released in September or October, to qualify for next year's Grammy Awards."

"... next year's Grammy Awards." (Funk, yeah!  Now we cookin' with hot sauce!)!! … Good one, Peter!  I like the way you think, dude!  I like the - way - you - think!!

September or October are mere Months away! Oooo, I'm so excited!! I absolutely cannot wait for Bruno's third album!!!

The Story and Some Stats behind the Song - The Lazy Song

"The Lazy Song" is one of the smartest and most enjoyable songs that Bruno's ever done!  The genius of this song, in my opinion, lies in its simplicity.  It's a song that anyone and everyone can relate to.

Bruno Mars' "The Lazy Song" - Official Music Video

The lyrics to this song are your best musical friend when you're having one of those days when you just "don't feel like doin' anything" ... and I do mean, "nothin' at all"!

(Uh-huh, right?  Those lazy days ... c'mon people, we all have 'em!  ... So as I said, pure and simple genius!)

Bruno Mars' "The Lazy Song" - Official Music Video

Bruno, in an interview, said about the song, "When we were recording the album, we were over-thinking a song, and it happens all the time.  When [you're thinking] 'this has got to be like the Beatles!' and it's like, 'no it doesn't ... just write something!'  And, being frustrated with all that, we came up with this [The Lazy Song]."

The song was written by Bruno Mars, Philip Lawrence, Ari Levine, and K'naan.

K'naaan was in the studio with Bruno, Ari, and Phil because, at the time, they were working on the "Celebration Mix" of "Wavin' Flag", Coca-Cola's promotional anthem for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

The song was, of course, produced by The Smeezingtons (Bruno's Production Company, consisting of Bruno Mars, Philip Lawrence, and Ari Levine.).

The Smeezingtons L-R:  Ari Levine,
Phil Lawrence, and Bruno Mars.

In an interview with Sound on Sound, Ari commented on the song saying that it was "... a very tough song to write, even though it is so simple.  That song happened one day when we were hanging around the studio ... we were kind of burnt out, and we didn't feel like working.  We felt lazy."

Good grief, guys!  If this is what happens when y'all are feeling lazy ... No wonder your songs are ALL so funking enjoyable!

The song was released on February 15, 2011.  According to Wikipedia, It spent a total of 27 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 and peaked at Number 4 (not bad!!).  The song sold 6.5 million copies, making it one the best selling digital singles of 2011!

Now, as for the Official Music Video? ... Well, what can I say? It's "The Lazy Song" as told by Monkeys!  Freaking hilarious and, again, genius!

Phil Lawrence is even in the video!

Definitely one of my favorite Videos from Bruno!  What's not to love?  It's Bruno dancing around (smooth moves BTW, Brunz!) With Chimpanzees!

The Monkeys behind the masks are actually the dance crew Poreotics!  Nice job, guys!

Poreotics in Bruno Mars' "The Lazy Song" - Official Music Video

About Poreotics, Bruno said, "I called these guys up, I had this idea and they were cool with it!  I said 'I'm gonna put you guys in monkey masks, come through [and] shoot a video with me!'  and they were, like, 'what?!'.  They came through and thank God they did 'cause the video wouldn't have been what is without them, so, thank you, Poreotics, you guys are the best!".

All the instruments you hear on the song are played by Bruno and Ari Levine.

The video was directed by Bruno and Cameron Duddy (Cameron, with Bruno, directed several videos on Bruno's second album, Unorthodox Jukebox.).

According to Wikipedia, as of March, 2016, the official music Video has over 860 million views on YouTube!

Well, Hooligans, that wraps it up for now.  Be sure to keep checking back for more Fun Facts, Stats, Stories, Quotes, Updates and General Info … all about Bruno Mars!
